Q&A: Where Can I Donate Suits?

suit donation or sales in mpls mn

Hello, we have some suits and office clothes that are not expensive or current. Could you tell me where the best place is to donate them? They are still in great condition.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your question.

I’m assuming that your goals are different than simply donation, as in giving the suits to Salvation Army or the local Goodwill. Those are the obvious choices, and that’s where the majority of people donate their used clothing.

Donating to a thrift store is a convenient choice, but it doesn’t guarantee that your suits will reach the people who need them.

Due to the high volume of clothing donations happening today, many items are never re-used. Some are even bundled up, shipped overseas, and then sold in third world countries.

Fortunately, a few charities in the Twin Cities accept business clothing and give it to people in need, such as ex-convicts or single parents who are entering the workforce.

A clothing donation to one of these organizations is more likely to help people in the community.
